How We Do Life At 2+ Months

Here you see how interested I am in little sister's progress. :)

You have to get your 'ham bone' on if you're going to do life in this family! :)

A kind friend from Hartline came for a visit today and even brought us a yummy and creative dinner: Snow on the Mountain.

Kuch in the Kitchen

Mommy had a late pick up waiting at the post office (quite a task to get there as of late!) ... so I opened this special surprise a couple days after my birthday. Turns out it was another AWESOME gift from Aunt Annie! So cool. Daddy, can you help me put this on?

And now let's get to work ...

OK, that's enough 'pretend play' ... let's see what I can do in the kitchen.
I pulled my chair up to the counter and Mommy got me started with some raisins in a bowl. Then she left the kitchen to take care of my crying sisters.

When Mommy returned, I pointed to the salt and pepper shakers and made noises (since I don't like to talk much) to notify her that I had stirred in some additional ingredients!

She eventually got out a cinnamon sugar mix so I could continue cooking (and she could attend to my fussy sisters!). I knew just what to do with it ... even where to find more when I discovered I was left with an insufficient quantity!

Yeah, and this boullion cube looks like it belongs in the mix (after a shake of parsley, naturally).

By the end, I had whipped up a delicious concoction of raisins, salt, pepper, parsley, cinnamon, sugar, water, chicken boullion and a slab of butter. As with most of the other ingredients, the butter was a surprise to Mommy. She came around the corner to find me with a knife in hand, slicing off a slab of butter, just the way I see her do it when we cook together! Daddy and I put my 'dough' in the oven to bake while Mommy tried to put my sisters to bed. Overall, it was a great culinary experience with my new tools and my first time flying solo. :) Thanks Annie!

The Big Number Two

The cake ...
The gifts ...

The guest list ...

Warming up to the party idea ...

OK, did someone spike the punch?

Super cool CARS DVD from Patti and Randy! Thank you. Vrroooom!

One more pose before it's time to DIG IN to my tractor cake!

Yummy! ... that was fun!

What did you wish for, Caleb? ... I wish for some friends who live closer so we can celebrate my NUMBER THREE bday together! :)

Skuutin' Outside

First things first ... Daddy needed my help with his work before I could go play on my skuut ...

Check out how Mommy has taught me to supervise and 'manage' from below! :)

Need this, Daddy?

At this rate, I'll never get 'pure play time' on my skuut ... looks like I'll just have to combine work and play time with Daddy! Afterall, this IS a working ranch (says Grandpa!). Here I am with Daddy getting ready to do some maintenance on Kory's car.

And now we need to lay out the irrigation pipes ...

And of course there is ALWAYS some mowing that needs to be done!

Still this is one of my favorite places: on Daddy's lap on the 'tractor' ... I AM his right-hand man afterall!

Final Days of Grandma and Grandpa's Visit

Here are some hangin' out shots from the final days of Grandma and Grandpa's most recent visit. We already miss them terribly!
I'm watering those trees for you, Grandpa.

Maybe Theodore wants a binky? Poor Grandma is on her last leg here, but still willing to entertain her sweet boy!

You see, as much as Grandpa pretends otherwise, one of his favorite things to do is to hold my little sisters! This is his magic hold that calms Anna right down.

Mommy and Daddy and my sisters had to go to the hospital last Friday. While they were gone, Grandma pulled out all the stops and let me take my Skuut outside! Very cool, Bapa! I rode it all over the road and the grass, on the foundation in the back, and even down to Grandma Melvin's house. Grandma said I was fearless. Of course, Mommy was sad to miss this FIRST, but I showed her a bit of my new hobby when they returned. Videos to come in the next blog!

The Haircut

One would think a haircut would be no big deal for a boy as big as I am, right? Turns out it was a HUGE ordeal complete with loud yelps, screaches and back-arching protests to try to wriggle my way out of Mommy's lap and scare the hairdresser half to death. Mommy nearly threw in the towel, even after making this special trip to Moses Lake with all the troops (thanks Grandpa!!!) just so I could get my hair cut. Good thing Grandma was there to keep us in the fight. She pulled out every trick in the book and we just barely survived the big event. Here I am with a retelling. Of course, since I'm not too much into the whole talking thing, this is MY version of the story, Caleb style:
